introduced at the ongoing Consumer Electronic Show at Las Vegas
by the technology giant Dell. The latest 7-inch touchscreen tablet by
Dell is one more to join the tablet bandwagon at this year’s CES which
is largely seen as the tablet show by experts. Dell Streak touchscreen
tablet features Google’s Android software v 2.2 Froyo and runs on
T-Mobile’s high speed 4G network.
The launch of Dell Streak touchscreen tablet is seen as Dell’s
aggressive move to make it big at the tablet market this year and to
launch its product amongst the tough rivalry posed by the iPad, Samsung
Galaxy Tab and Motorola Droid Xoom that also got launched at the CES
2011.
The Streak tablet from Dell features a dual-core processor by Nvidia
Tegra 2 and offers support for Adobe’s Flash multimedia software.
T-Mobile, a unit of Deutsche Telekom AG which is USA’s no. 4 carrier
will run Dell Streak on its 4G network and according to the company the
tablet will be available in coming weeks.
Dell ventured into the tablet market in 2010 by introducing a 5-inch
Streak model and still has long way to go to make a splash in the tablet
market already dominated by Apple’s iPad and other tablet players that
have proved their mettle recently to become iPad’s biggest rivals such
as the Tab or Xoom Droid.
Dell Streak tablet is the first 4G product by both
Del and T-Mobile. Dell Streak tablet also called Streak 7 is a true
successor of the 5-inch Streak launched by Dell last year. The other
specifications of Dell Streak 4G include 7-inch WVGA TFT multi-touch
display with Gorilla Glass technology with 800 x 480 pixel resolution.
Powered by Android v 2.2 the tablet has Dell Stage 1.0 UI layered over
it. We can expect the Dell Streak 4G tablet to get an update to the
other Android versions such as Gingerbread and Honeycomb.
Dell Streak features also include a 5 MP camera at the rear with 720p
HD recording, a 1.3 MP camera with video call facility, full HTML
supporting webkit based browser and 16 GB of internal memory that can be
expanded further to up to 32GB via microSD card. The connectivity
features of Dell Streak 7 4G are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and
built-in support for 4G network. The tablet also supports Microsoft
Exchange e-mail, calendar and contacts. The price of Dell Streak 4G
tablet is yet to be announced by Dell.
At the CES 2011 Dell also introduced Dell Venue, its latest
smartphone that runs on Android but without a wireless carrier and gave a
sneak peak into another 10-inch tablet that the company is still
working on.
