HTC is known to be a maker of several Android based smartphones. The company has disclosed that it is going to roll out three Android tablets, the first of which will land as early as March. The first tablet device will be called the Flyer. According to reports it will not run the Android 3.0 Honeycomb that was specifically created for tablets. The Flyer will run Android 2.3 until Google unveils the new OS. It is suggested that the Flyer will be similar to a 7-inch HTC Desire smartphone. It is also strange that the HTC Flyer will be based on the non-tablet operating system of Google when released in March. It can only mean that Google is still working on the tablet oriented Android 3.0 OS. In fact, HTC wants to be the first to bring the Android tablet to the market this year, in other words the company wants to be ahead of the RIM’s PlayBook as well as Motorola’s Xoom. This way will help the company to explain why its first tablet will come with the OS that is not optimized for tablets. Also it can explain why the tablet device will feature just a 7-inch display, but not a larger one, like the Motorola Xoom as well as the iPad. The HTC Flyer will be the first tablet device in a set of three tablets HTC is readying for us. As for other two tablets they will be available in June, featuring Android 3.0 on-board. By then RIM as well as Motorola would have released the new tablet device. One should not forget that Apple will also launch its improved iPad 2. It is expected to happen in April. But until March we will be able to learn more details about the upcoming tablet of HTC as the Mobile World Congress is approaching. It will be held in Barcelona
