The new iPhone 5 looks set to launch on September 12th... Technology and gadget hounds: mark your calendars. Apple has just emailed out a raft of official invitations to an event it's holding on September 12th in San Francisco, sparking rumours that it plans to unveil the new iPhone 5 handset. The event is scheduled to take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, which is where Apple has launched new products in the past. The device was tipped to launch in the autumn and a September unveiling would fit in with Apple's release cycle. Apple's invitation don't normally allude specifically to product launches, but you can notice that Apple slyly morphed the number 12's shadow into 5, which makes it almost dead cert that the event will witness the launch of iPhone 5, this year's most hotly anticipated devices. Speculation is rife; rumours state that the iPhone 5 is set to feature a bigger touchscreen, 4G LTE internet connectivity, and it will run on iOS 6.
